Digital Majority: SPRINT/REGIONAL MEDIA ACCELERATOR
Digital Majority: SPRINT/REGIONAL MEDIA ACCELERATOR
intensive 4 days series of workshops and collaborative work in human rights
CSO Biopolis, forumZFD (Serbia and Kosovo), and CeP Montenegro invite you to participate in the training workshop on digital literacy through writing Wikipedia articles to reduce gender bias, with a special focus on women in anti-war and peace movements in the Western Balkans – particularly Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro.
Through the Digital Majority platform, we address the inequalities we face in the digital space. Research conducted by Wikipedia shows that gender bias is present both in the editorial community and on Wikipedia pages. The visibility and accessibility of women on Wikipedia is limited, and the fact that women make up less than 10% of the editorship is also reflected in the content – even very significant women have little content. We decided to change that.
In cooperation with Wikimedia Serbia and the organization forumZFD, we launched a series of free digital literacy workshops at the end of 2022, where participants learned how to create content on Wikipedia, and our team of ten editors, through the Present(ed) encyclopedia of peace project, dedicated to the digital imprint and knowledge of women in the peace and anti-war movement during the wars of the 90s, wrote over 150 articles on the Wikipedia on Serbian.
The workshop will be held in Mokrin from 29 September to 2 October 2023. The intensive 4 days program will include lectures, workshops on content writing and digital literacy, and visits to important sites for anti-war movements in Vojvodina.
The applications are open until 10 September 2023.
